Turning Off Find My iPhone

In order to trade in your iPhone or submit it for warranty or repair, you must first turn off the Find My iPhone feature.

STOP!  Don't forget to back up all of the content on your iPhone before proceeding.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone.

Move the toggle switch to the left to turn off Find My iPhone.

After turning off Find My iPhone, back up one screen and sign out of iCloud.

Turning off Find My iPhone Remotely

If you aren't able to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, you can do it from the iCloud website.

  • Sign in to Find My iPhone on the iCloud website.
  • Select the device to remove from your account.
  • If the device is offline, click Remove from Account.
  • If the device is online, click Erase. When this step is complete, click Remove from Account.
